John Leonard

John B. Leonard, 77, of Mancelona, passed away on October 20, 2016 in Petoskey. John was born on March 13, 1939, in Lewistown, PA, the son of Leslie and Iva (Smith) Leonard. John and his wife Sylvia, owned and operated Northwood Transport in Kalkaska, Open Road Enterprises in Traverse City, TRACC in New Brunswick, Canada as well as Moderne Slate in Alba. John attended the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona and enjoyed trucks, tractors, fishing and working. On November 22, 1959, in Mancelona, he married Sylvia Justice who survives. Also surviving are a brother James (Margaret) Leonard of Chambersburg, PA, a niece Jeanette (Les) Clugston of Chambersburg, PA, a nephew John (Glenda) Leonard of Nairobi, Kenya, 2 aunts,an uncle and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will continue on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the Church prior to the Funeral. Interment will be in Coldsprings Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim Church of Christ, P.O. Box 68, Mancelona, MI, 49659. Donation funds will be used toward mission work through the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
