John Keils

John "Jack" Keils, 84, of Bellaire, formerly of Detroit, passed away on May 26, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. Jack was born on August 1, 1928, in Detroit, the son of Hubert and Agnes (Gonthier) Keils. Jack was a permanent resident of Bellaire since 1987 where he was a long time member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force and was a 1956 graduate of the University of Detroit where he earned his degree in Architectural Engineering. Jack's passion was construction, building, and architectural design. He was very proud of his many projects that he completed. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Murphy) Keils, a brother William Keils and his parents. On March 4, 2000, he married Suzanne M. (Trombley) Radtke who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Kathleen Keils of Bellaire, Kenneth Keils of Redford, Molly (Mark) Valade of Grosse Pointe, Michael (Diane) Keils of Farmington Hills, 8 grandchildren, John, Joseph and Emma Keils, Kyle, Gretchen and Cameron Valade, Olivia and Michaela, 6 step-children, John (Lynn) Radtke, Julie (Richard) Travis, James (Sandra) Radtke, Jeffrey Radtke, Joseph (Jennifer) Radtke, Jennefer Radtke and as well as 12 step-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. Fr. James Gardiner will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday from 6-8p.m. with a Rosary and prayer service starting at 7:30 at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI. A Memorial service will take place in Detroit at a later date and will be announced in the future on our website as well as the Detroit News and Free Press. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church or to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 4390 Conner St., Detroit, MI., 48215.
