John Hart

Francis "John" Hart, 70, of Mancelona, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at Munson Medical Center. John was born on March 31, 1941 in Mancelona, the son of Francis and Cecil Hart. John was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years and was involved in the Knights of Columbus in Kalkaska. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp for 22 years serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Retiring in 1981 with the rank of Master Sergeant he drove the school bus for Mancelona's special education students. He loved his motorcycle, traveling with his wife, Muriel; hunting, fishing, and cowboy shooting. On April 3, 1982 in Mancelona, he married Muriel Krause who survives. Also surviving is his loving daughter, Tiffany Hart and her FiancAC. Michael Kowalski both of Portage, MI; one brother, Thomas (Judy) Hart of Alpena, MI., two sisters, Geraldine (Gene) Martin of Horton, AL., and Roseanne Butcher of Spring Lake, MI; a special brother-in-law, Richard Krause of Mancelona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dickie Hart. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mancelona with Father Dale Magoon officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona with Military Honors. A luncheon will follow at St. Anthony's. Visitation will take place on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Core League Service Office, Patrick V. McNamara building, 477 Michigan Avenue, Room 1232, Detroit, MI 48226.
