John Haines

John Haines, 92, of Bellaire, passed away on October 21, 2013 at his home. John was born on October 21, 1921, in Kewadin, the son of John and Laura (Hurst) Haines. John was best described as a "true gentleman" with a great sense of humor and was polite, gentle and kind. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing various card games, especially cribbage and dominos. He liked to garden and do yard work. He served his country honorably during World War II. He is survived by 4 children, Valerie (Michael) Murden of Bellaire, Vicki (Tom) Potter of Perry, MI., Vivian (Michael) Wolgamott of Eastport, Tim Haines of Bellaire, a brother Tommy (Baryl) Haines of Cuyahoga Falls, OH., 5 grandchildren, Jason (Shauna) Murden, Gabe (Jen) Huthinson, Stacey (Ronnie) Wallace, Brandon (Jen Steele) Wolgamott, Vincent (Melissa Kent) Wolgamott, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2002, his parents and many siblings. Visitation will take place on Thur., October 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Graveside services with military honors will be on Friday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
