John Gohlke

John Nicholas Gohlke, 68, of Bellaire, passed away January 4, 2022 at his home.  John was born September 2, 1953 in Alpena, MI to Harry E. Gohlke and Thelma M. (Nelson) Gohlke.

John was an outdoorsman who enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and golfing, along with being a proud Eagle Scout.  He was a social butterfly who loved spending time with his family and friends.  Recently, John enjoyed wintering down south.

For many years John enjoyed being the scorekeeper for the Eaton Rapids basketball teams.  He worked for and retired from the State of Michigan in the Environmental Health Department.

John is survived by two children, Brianna (Scott) N. Clausen of Grand Rapids and Ian (Sabrina) Gohlke of Deland, FL, brothers Eric (Diane) Gohlke of Grand Rapids, Keith Gohlke (Lisa Wilson) of Grand Rapids, and Jim (Mary Van Harn) Gohlke of Holland, sisters Diane Gohlke of Lansing and Sarah (Bruce) Michley of Rochester Hills, and 5 loving grandchildren, Dempsey, Davis, and Destry Clausen, and Alana and Piper Gohlke.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will take place Sunday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon until the time of the service also at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation please consider the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Eaton Rapids High School Athletic Program.
