JoAnn Geer, 74, of Charlevoix, died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was born April 16, 1941, in Charlevoix to Arthur Ruben and Evelyn Merle (Struthers) Geer. JoAnn graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1959, and from the University of Michigan in 1964. She taught school in Unionville for a short time, then moved home to Charlevoix where she substitute taught for several years. Her primary occupation was caregiver working for families in the community; and, since JoAnn was 14 years old, as an assistant to the Dayton Mudd family.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix.
JoAnn is survived by her brother Bob (Sally) Geer of Charlevoix; sister, Artis (John) Galnares of Traverse City; nieces and nephews, Alan Geer, Bobby Geer, Larisa (Hans VanSumeren) Galnares, Maria del Pilar Galnares (Craig) Fiebing, John P. (Kelly) Galnares, John Thomas Geer; nine great-nieces and nephews; and the entire Mudd family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry A. Geer.
A memorial service will be announced in August.
