Joan D. Fischer, 88, of Bellaire, passed away on January 11, 2021 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.
Joan was born on November 1, 1932, in Bellaire, the daughter of David and Arlie (Bedell) Lessard.
She was a Bellaire resident most of her life, and for many years she was a member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. She, along with her husband Keith were founders and previous owners of Fischer Insurance.

She could often be found attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events, and she especially loved watching basketball. She was the center of a large family, the starter of the happy birthday song, and had a way of making those around her feel special.
On September 4, 1950, in Bellaire, she married Keith Fischer who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, David Fischer (Deborah Kendregan), Timothy (Janet) Fischer, Joseph (Tammy) Fischer all of Bellaire, a brother Richard (Sharon) Lessard of Alpena, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Stanley and Donald Lessard.
