Jimmy Owen Bowman passed away peacefully on October 21, 2022, his late wife Karen’s 84th birthday, and he is holding her in his arms once more and forever. Jimmy was born December 22nd, 1936 to Ben and Mildred Bowman, the only son out of seven children.
He married the love of his life, Karen McAleer, on November 28th, 1958 and they had six children together. His devoted care of Karen during her extended illness until her passing on August 1st, 2007 showed us all what true love really means.
Jimmy served honorably in the US Coast Guard for 23 years before working with Burns Security at the Big Rock Point Nuclear Plant for over 20 years. Following retirement from Burns, Jimmy enjoyed watching the Lions (except when they lost), DIY carpentry, travel, visiting the casinos and he was an avid reader.
He taught us about woodworking and he will be in every project we make with his tools.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three of his six sisters: Ruth, Sue and Jeannie. He is survived by sisters Becky, Donna Lee and Mary Lou, and by his children: Dave (Candy), Michelle, Nancy, Deborah, Jenny and Donna Joy as well as numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Per Jimmy’s wishes there will be no service. Memorials may be made to St. Judes.
We greatly miss our Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and Friend. We love you!
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
