Jerry Allen Troyer

Pastor Jerry Allen Troyer, age 66, of Central Lake, Michigan, won his battle with cancer when he went home to be with his savior on September 27th, 2023, with his family lovingly by his side. He lived a life that tasted and saw that the Lord was good and was blessed because he took refuge in him (Ps. 34:8). This was his desire for his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. 

Jerry was born June 17th, 1957 to Darda and Melba Troyer in Goshen, Indiana. After moving with his family to Greenville, Michigan, Jerry graduated from Greenville High School in 1975, he went on to study Missionary Aviation at Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music where he met his wife Mary Jo Voice, and then finished his Bachelors at Liberty University. They both had a heart for reaching others for Jesus and would be married on August 12th, 1978 at Oakfield Baptist Church in Greenville, Michigan. God blessed them with 6 children and 4 grandchildren.

After pursuing missions God led Jerry to become a pastor. Faithfully he served God as an Associate Pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Greenville, Michigan for 14 years. Then as a Senior Pastor at Eastport Baptist Church in Eastport, Michigan for 26 years. His passion for God’s Word, love for others, gentle leadership, and desire for others to know Jesus came through in all that he did. He deeply loved his congregation and they loved him.

Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, hunting, carpentry, singing, music, reading and being a grandpa. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, friend and pastor. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Darda Troyer, Brother Steve Troyer, and sister Diane Troyer. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Troyer, children, Hannah (Joshua) Delong, Matthew Troyer, Rachel (Johnathon Ryon) Wood, Sarah Troyer, Caleb Troyer, and Lydia (Spencer) Williams, and grandchildren Noah, Elijah, William, and Callia. Jerry is also survived by his mother Melba Troyer, sister Bonnie (Phil Symonds), sister-in-law Elaine Troyer, and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In loving memory of Pastor Jerry Allen Troyer, please join us for a viewing held at Eastport Baptist Church on October 14th, 2023, at 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Converge or Eastport Baptist Church.
