Jerome “Jerry” McAuliffe, 65, of Alden, passed away suddenly, on July 27, 2017 at his home.

Jerry was born on April 13, 1952, in Detroit, the son of John and Jean (Wallace) McAuliffe.

First and foremost Jerry was a family man who always provided for and cherished the ones he loved. He was also an avid golfer, with an immense love and passion for the game. Jerry was a happy, joyful man who could light up any room that he walked in to.

Jerry worked at the Birmingham Country Club from 1991 to 2009, where he served as their general manager for over two decades. He continued his work as general manager at several other country clubs in the area until his retirement in 2013. His honesty, integrity, and tireless work will have an everlasting effect on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Kershner) McAuliffe, whom he married on February 15, 1980, in Bellaire, MI. Also surviving are two children, Kyle (Ami) McAuliffe of Farmington Hills, MI, and Molly (Ryan) Gardner of Ferndale, MI; three brothers, Jim (Sherry) McAuliffe of Overland Park, KS, Jay (Bel) McAuliffe of Decatur, GA, Jeff (Kristi) McAuliffe of Shoreline, WA, a sister, Jane (Bruce) Peterson of Merrimack, NH, his in-laws, Ron (Bonnie) Kershner of Alden, a brother-in-law Steve Kershner of Alden, many nieces and nephews, special friends Bob Thoresen, Via Brummer, as well as many other close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Ronald Kershner and his sister-in-law Beth Kershner.

A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church in the Hills, Bellaire with Pastor David Ramage officiating.

​A memorial service will also be held Sunday, August, 20th at 1:00 at The Congregational Church of Birmingham, UCC, 1000 Cranbrook Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI  48304
