Jeremiah Kenwabikise

Jeremiah Paul Kenwabikise, 40, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.  He was born on April 30, 1982, in Traverse City, the son of Mary Kenwabikise.

Jeremiah went to Glen Lake and Traverse City West schools growing up.  As an adult, he worked as a chef at many restaurants in and around Traverse; including Bistro Fufu, U & I Lounge, Little Bo, La Becasse, and the Grand Traverse Resort and Casino.  He enjoyed playing videogames, swimming in many of the lakes in the area, and taking care of horses as well as teaching others about them.

Jeremiah is survived by his mother, Mary Kenwabikise-Halpin of Beaver Island; his brother, Dominique Halpin of Beaver Island; his sister Melissa (Ryan) Woodley of Ishpeming; two nieces, Mirra and Aria; his nephew, Reese; and his second set of parents, Pauline and George Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Mick Halpin; his cousin & best friend, Aaron Anthony; and his infant sister, Shawnee.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  There will not be a formal service at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter.
