Jeffrey Ricks

Dr. Jeffrey Bernard Ricks, 74, arrived in his heavenly father’s arms on Friday December 31, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia (Bracy) Ricks and his children Kristen (Tim) McClure, Claudia (Todd) Zarotney, Jennifer (Kevin) Kosten, Michael Ricks, and Kathryn (Keith) Marks, his grandchildren Patrick, Matthew, Emily, Eli, Ben, Sam, Joe, Caroline, Isaac, Asher, Lily, Kaleb, Evie, Tyler, Parker and Layla, his sister Michal (Rich) Wheeler and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Ruth Ricks and his brothers Bill and Jon Ricks.

Jeff grew up in Birmingham, MI. After graduating with a BA in Marketing and Economics from Western Michigan University, he went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He started his practice in October of 1976 and faithfully served the community with his healing hands, infectious smile, and twinkle in his eye for 44 years.

Jeff was a member and actively involved with his church family at Community Reformed Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and storyteller. Jeff loved spending time with his grandkids to whom he could never say “no”.

From the squirt gun wars on Crooked River to sledding down McSauba’s hills, he was always up for creating an adventure with his family. He was Papa: the man, the myth, the legend.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 7 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.    Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix with Pastor Chip Sauer officiating.   Visitation will also continue at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 on Saturday.
