JEAN A. WHITE, 89, of Bellaire, died on Jan. 17, 2010 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Jean was born on May 22, 1920 in Rockford, Michigan, the daughter of Leon and Jennie (Bush) Kitson. Jean graduated from Rockford High School in 1937 and then went on to Western Michigan University for 2 years where she earned an education certificate. Jean was a resident of Bellaire for many years and worked as a teachers aid for the Bellaire Elementary School before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church and enjoyed bird watching, fishing and working in her flower garden. On Feb. 1, 1941 in Grand Rapids, she married Archie White who preceded her in death in 1986. Also preceding her in death were a son Jack White in 1987, 2 brothers Charles and Gerald Kitson as well as her parents. She is survived by a daughter Joanne (Dale) Reeves of Bellaire, a daughter-in-law Marilyn White of Bellaire, a sister Dorothy DeMyer of Rockford, 5 grandchildren, Craig (Kendra) White, Greg (Cindy) White, Jackie (Doug McGuire) White, Ron Harding, Laurie Mack, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Wed., Jan. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Madeline Oeder will officiate. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place in the spring in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
