Jean A. Loper

Jean A. Loper, 93 of Charlevoix passed away peacefully, January 15, 2024 at her daughter’s home.  She was born September 26, 1930 in Charleston, West Virginia the daughter of Delmar and V. Blanch (Workman) Keeling and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1948 before moving to Charlevoix, Michigan.

   Jean worked for many years as a bus driver for the Char-Em school district and also as a study hall supervisor at the school.  She was very involved in the community over the years.  She was active in the Venetian festival committee, the Women’s Auxiliary, Charlevoix Little League, and Charlevoix Public Schools Band and Sports Boosters.  Jean enjoyed bowling and playing bingo.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and watching them play sports too.

   Left to cherish her memory are her children Carolyn Loper of Charlevoix, Greg (Lisa) Loper of Charlevoix, Mike (Patti) Loper of Petoskey, grandchildren Christopher (Alissa Gracy) Loper, Matthew (Heather) Loper, Jill Loper, Addie Loper, Brian (Chelsey) Loper, Ellen Loper, Monica Cornell, great grandchildren Jiri, Freja, Madison, Matthew II, Wesley, Alex, Everleigh, Charleigh, Sarena, Maddox, and step sister Kathy Stuart.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold Loper, and son Jeffrey Loper.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27^th at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Charlevoix with Rev. Barry Bates officiating.    The family will receive friends Friday, January, 26^th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Memorial contributions can be given to the Christ Episcopal Church or the Charlevoix County Humane Society.
