JEAN HARRIS

JEAN E. HARRIS, 87, of Mancelona, passed away on March 19, 2013 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. Jean was born on November 6, 1925, in Pottstown, PA., the daughter of George and Gertrude (Schlegel) Turner. Jean was a resident of Mancelona since 1980 and was a long time member of the Mancelona Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, cooking, baking, feeding birds and sending cards. On July 1, 1950, in Davison, MI., she married Albert Harris who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a grandson Luke Flynn, 2 brothers, George Turner, Harry Gibb, a sister Phyllis Sikora and a step-mother Grace Turner. She is survived by 4 children, Michele (Pat) Dusute of Caro, Anita (Bill) Flynn of Mancelona, Jason (Sheryl) Harris of Grawn, Jessie (Chaz) Rex of Mancelona, two sisters, Dona Wright of Royal Oak, Cynthia (Brian) Zielinski of Louisburg, N.C., 5 grandchildren, Benjamin (Cindy) Flynn, Jedidiah (Bonnie) Flynn, Elizabeth (Aaron) Baxter, Aaron Harris, Aleshia Harris, 5 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ian and Anna Flynn, Olivia and Luke Baxter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 23 at Noon at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church. Pastors Gerald and Ellen Cook will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday also at the Church. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona, in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona Free Methodist Church, 410 E. Hinman St., Mancelona, MI 49659 or to the Antrim County Commission on Aging, PO BOX 614, Bellaire, MI 49615.
