JAY BRIAN MONROE, 47, of Kingston, TN., formerly of Central Lake and Battle Creek, passed away on Tues., March 23, 2010 at the U.T. Medical Center. Jay was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6985 in Central Lake, a U.S. Navy Veteran and enjoyed wood working, taking hikes in the mountains and being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Kathy (Hoogerhyde) Monroe, a daughter, Teia Monroe, 4 sons, Jerime Monroe, Joshua Monroe, Zackary Monroe and Travis Monroe all of Kingston. Also surviving are sisters and brothers in law, Georgia and Ken Beaver of Kalkaska, Patti and Gary Rose of Battle Creek, brothers and sisters in law, Joe and Patsy Donnellan of Romulas, Jerry and Vicki Hartley of Boyne City, Jeff Monroe of Battle Creek, Jed and Tracy Monroe of Battle Creek, father and mother in law Bud and Pauline Hoogerhyde of Central Lake, brothers in law Dan and Penny Hoogerhyde of Ardmore, OK., Harold and Linda Hoogerhyde of Bellaire, Scott and Lisa Hoogerhyde of Central Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Monroe. Funeral services will take place on Thur., March 25, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. at the Kyker Funeral Chapel in Kingston. Rev. Larry Bolden will officiate. An additional service will take place Monday, March 29, at Two p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
