Janice Massey

Janice Louise Massey, 58 of Bellaire, died Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones, with no coincidence that it was Cinco De Mayo, a day to celebrate and be with her family.

She was born January 10, 1961 in Dearborn the daughter of Robert and Audrey (LaBarre) Egler.  She graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1979 and received her Associates Degree from Northwest Michigan College.

Jan cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.  She was kind, caring, and happy.  She always put others first and enjoyed making them laugh and feel good. She loved life and lived it to its fullest.

For many years Jan worked for Coldwell Banker and for Mark Riedy insurance company.  She enjoyed spending time outdoors, downhill skiing, and animals, especially dogs.

On June 24, 1995 she married the love of her life, Robert Massey who survives.  Also surviving is her mother Audrey Lehman of Charlevoix, daughter Angela Thayer and grandson Hayden of Petoskey, son Robert Jr (Tiffany) Massey and grandchildren Carter, Genevieve, and Mallory of Bellaire, brothers Scott (Lynn) Egler of St. Clair, Tom (Terri) Egler of Crawford Village, FL, sisters Kathy Lester of Charleston, WV, Beth Egler of Charlevoix, Patty LaBarre of Grand Rapids, Mary (Dave) Young of Reno, NV, and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her father Robert Egler, stepfather Charles Lehman, and grandson Corban Massey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9, at 12 Noon at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Eric Falker officiating.  Interment will follow in Flewelling Cemetery, Kearney Twp.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.  Memorial donations can be given to the Antrim County Animal Shelter, PO BOX 568, Bellaire, MI 49615 or Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center, 3820 Ritt Rd, Bellaire, MI 49615.
