Jane Olds

JANE N. OLDS, 90, of Traverse City, formerly of Mancelona and Alba, died on February 16, 2010 at her daughter's home. Jane was born on October 7, 1919 in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie (Lawrence) Gowdy. Jane resided in Mancelona for many years where she was a member of the Mancelona Missionary Church, the Mancelona Historical Society and was employed by Gulf and Western for 19 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and mostly spending time with her family. She is survived by 4 children, Priscilla (Raymond) Musser of Traverse City, Robert (Kathy) Olds of Grand Rapids, Vernon (Debby) Olds of Billings, MT., and MaryAnn Krause of Williamsburg. In addition to her children she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Olds, a sister Marion Marchbanks, a brother Larry Gowdy, her parents and her adopted mother Mary Patton. Funeral services will take place on Sat., Feb. 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place on Fri. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Star Township Cemetery in Alba, in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona Historical Society or to the American Cancer Society.
