James "Jim" Ellis

James J Ellis, 84, of Bellaire, died May, 1, 2018 at Munson Medical Center.

He was born March 1, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH the son of James E. and Eileen (Schuster) Ellis.  Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army.

In 1980, Jim moved his family north where he has resided for the last 38 years.  He worked in sales for several different companies before retiring.  Jim enjoyed fishing and loved animals, especially his dogs.  He also had an interest in planes.  He enjoyed learning about them, working on them and flying them.

Surviving Jim are his daughters Jennifer (Sherrie Williams) Ellis of Mancelona, Pamela (Mike Gresham) Ellis, Amy (Martin) Gentry all of Cincinnati, OH, sister Patricia (Gary) Berger of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren Nicholas (Kyra) Graczky, Tyler and Gracie Gentry, Bryce, Trinity, Christian, and Brianna Sheehan, Corinthia Ellis, great grandchildren Madison and Mason Graczky, his loving companion Lois Walsh since 2014, dogs Orie & Molly, several nieces and nephews, and other family members.  Preceding Jim in death were his wife Nancy in 2005, his daughter Kathleen, and sister and brother in law Jacqueline and Richard Combs.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church with Fr. Chet Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Luke Catholic Church, PO BOX 799, Bellaire, MI 49615 or Antrim County Animal Shelter, PO BOX  568, Bellaire, MI 49615.
