James Edward Rogers, 88 of Manton and formerly of Mancelona, died Fri. May 1, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. He was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Detroit, the son of Bert A. and Grace Francis (Patton) Rogers. Jim proudly joined the US Army upon turning 18 and served during World War II. He worked for the City of Royal Oak in the Water Works Department for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Mancelona. He loved hunting and fishing and started the local chapter of the Turkey Federation in Mancelona. Surviving Jim is his wife of 67 years, Elaine Ruth Campbell. Also surviving are his sons Robert W. (Lori) Rogers of Manton and Randal J. Rogers of Central Lake, and his sister Janet R. Rogers of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Doris M. Rogers. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, with Military Honors at 6 p.m. Interment will take place privately in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
