James F. Marling, 80, of Bellaire, Michigan and Milton, Florida, passed away September 10, 2012 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. Jim was born in Detroit on August 29, 1932, the son of Hobart and Erva (McCarty) Marling. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was the President of the Florida Government Finances Association. He retired from the City of Pensacola in July 1998 where he was the Finance Director. Jim served as the Treasurer on the Friends of Clam Lake Board and was a member of the Grass River Natural Area. Jim was surrounded by numerous friends at his surprise 80th Birthday Party. He will be greatly missed. On September 13, 1980, in Southgate, Michigan, Jim married the love of his life Mary Ann, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Jody (Craig) Larsen of Bath, MI., Jill Kluge of Apollo Beach, FL., Theodore (April) Marling of Italy, Joseph (Lisa) Bastien of Milton, FL., and Katherine (James) Carnes of Gainesville, FL; a brother, Robert (Bobbi) Marling of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Rob Larsen, Kelly Simpson, Robert Marling, Sarah Akins, Logan Marling, Jared Marling, Brittney and Meagan Bastien, Morgan and Lindsay Carnes; great-grandchildren, Grace Simpson and Alyssa Akins; his former wife, Nancy Culver; his Aunt Micky and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire, with Fr James Gardiner officiating. The Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements.
