James Homan

James "Jim" Homan, 74, of Mancelona, passed away on March 23, 2015 at his home. Jim graduated in 1958 from Mancelona High School. He married Faye Churchill on September 19, 1959. Shortly after, he started working at Plymouth Tank in Plymouth, MI. In 1970, he returned with his family to Mancelona and started working at Steel Tank where he was Vice-President and General Manager for 34 years until he retired in 2004. Jim enjoyed many things in his life. Among those were the love he gave his wife and family, traveling, camping, an occasional night at the Casino, a bit of golfing, a good Friday night fish fry and country line dancing. Jim is survived by his wife Faye of 55 years, 4 sons, Chris (Julie) Homan, Mike (Georgia Ann) Homan, Tim (Shannon) Homan, Steve (Liz) Homan, 10 grandchildren, Shannon (Cory) Lems, Tiffany Schumacher, Nyssa Meyer and Ben, Shylo Homan and Tyler, Travis Homan and Samantha, Cady (Tim) Tobias, Stephanie Homan and Dustin, RJ Homan, Logan Homan and Kelsey, Jonathan Homan,5 great-grandkids with one on the way, 4 brothers, Everrett (Nellie) Homan, Roger (Bonnie) Homan, Randy (Debbie) Homan, Brian (Paula) Homan along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Nancy (Howell) Homan and a brother Andy Homan. "God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best". Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church, County Road 571. Pastor Gerald Cook will officiate. Viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. A gathering will follow services in the Free Methodist Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona at a later date when weather permits.
