James L. Holton, 65, of Bellaire, passed away on March 14, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.
James was born on April 4, 1948, in Charlevoix, the son of Lloyd and Esther (Umlor) Holton.
James was a lifelong resident of Bellaire and was employed by Lamina Bronze for over 30 years. He drove school bus for Bellaire Public Schools as well as being a school board member.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the cooking channel.
He served 2 tours in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While serving his country he earned a Bronze Star.
On June 29, 1974, in Bellaire, he married Linda M. Hoalt who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Michael (Anita) Holton of Mancelona, Daniel (Shannon) Holton of Mancelona, Joseph Holton of Arizona, a sister Joanne (Dale) Reeves of Bellaire, and 7 grandchildren, Tanner, Dylan, Justin, Jessica, Jacob, Jarrett and Austin.
He was preceded in death by a brother Jack White, sister Donna Lockman, and his parents.
Memorial services with military honors will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude.
