James J. Gothrup 62, of Traverse City, Formerly of Mancelona, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. James was born July 27, 1946 in Mancelona, the son of James and Ella (Cushaway) Gothrup. He served in the U S Army from 1966 to 1968. James was a tool and die maker, working for many years for Gaylord Precision Tool. He moved to Traverse City in 2007 from Mancelona. On Feb. 4, 1967 in Alba, he married Mary E. (Kitchen) who survives. Also surviving are two children, Jeff (Laura) Gothrup of Traverse City, Randy (Jennifer) Gothrup of Bellaire, a sister Mary (Marvin) Scholl of Mancelona, four grandchildren, Tiffany, Shalimar, Caleb and Aubre. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerry. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Eleven a.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
