James Glime

James (Jim) Aaron Glime: Born July 26th, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. Died September 16th, 2023 in Traverse City, Michigan after a brief illness.

Loving husband to Ann of 55 years. Father to Jason (Tiffany), Andy (Stacie), and Ben (Amy) Glime. Proud Grandfather to Nathan, Ryan, Brady, Tyler, Ashley, Mary, and Charlie. Uncle “UJ” to many nieces and nephews. Cherished brother-in-law to Sally Downey, and the late Jane and Bud Herrington. Son of the late William and Martha Glime. Brother to the late Bill and Gene Glime, and survived by his sister, Linda (Greg) Bemister. Loyal and longtime friend to many who affectionately called him “Bones”.

Jim’s larger-than-life presence can only be overshadowed by the love and devotion he had for his family and friends. He was always prepared with a funny story, good joke, and kind word for anyone he met.

Jim led a successful career in retail at the Kmart corporation for 27 years. After retirement, he started a family business that is now in its second generation. For his third career chapter, he was a valued consultant for the Blarney Castle Oil Company in Northern Michigan.

While his accomplishments in business were plentiful, his greatest accomplishment would be his loving marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ann for over 55 years. Together they created a beautiful life for their 3 sons and 7 grandchildren. He took no greater pride than his family and was a rock to everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and countless longtime friends.

Jim has left a legacy that will be felt and honored for generations.

A private service will be held for family members, and a celebration of life party will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
