James E. Cupp, 70, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1947 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Harmon JL and Ruth Charlotte (Van Peer) Cupp.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969.
He married Sharon Gusik on April 22, 1967, in Monroe, Michigan. They lived in Michigan and Indiana, moving to Ellsworth in 1993.
Jim worked as a Kmart manager for many years. He enjoyed genealogy, photography, biking, building electronics, birding and camping.
Surviving are his wife Sharon; children Pamela (Aron) Renkiewicz of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Jonathan Cupp of Ellsworth, Christina (John) Ordus of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Benjamin (Callie) Cupp of Williamsburg, Michigan; 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Cupp, and his sister, Geraldine Cotton.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Petoskey with President Kenneth Storm officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. to the time of the service. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery, Banks Township, Michigan.
