James Coy

James Denton Coy was born on July 16, 1951 to Virginia Belle Coy and Claude Coy in Central Lake, Michigan. He was the youngest of 9 children. His siblings are: Claude, Vernon, Bob, Shirley, Dick, Claudette, Craig, and Scott. He attended Central Lake High School, played the slide trombone in the band and enjoyed living in northern Michigan. He Married Marsha, joined the Navy, and fathered three children with Marsha: James Jr., Janelle, and Brent. Later, he lived in Florida, California, and then resided in the Detroit area where he met Gail Jahn. The love between Jim and Gail resulted in the birth of a son, Jonathan Coy.

Jim Coy enjoyed spending time with his family. When Jim was 17, his sister Claudette gave birth to a son named Walter. Jim was like a second father and big brother to Walter. Jim enjoyed teaching Walter unique skills such as changing the television channels with his toes, how to give wet willies, and how to be the master prankster. Jim was full of live and love. He always brought smiles and happiness to those he touched.

Family, no matter the relation, it was always important to Jim. He strived to stay in touch with family and friends and always wanted help in any way he could. He was always quick to give a hug, lend a hand, and make you smile. He was tender, but was very strong. When times were tough, Jim was the person everyone could turn to for support.

Jim's family lived in the area of Detroit, Michigan and always wanted to be close to them., but in the last few years of his live he desired to return home to the Central Lake area. He moved to Charlevoix, Michigan and enjoyed being apart of the community.
