James Chisholm

James C. Chisholm,  62, of Traverse City, passed away suddenly and tragically  on May 29, 2019 in Traverse City.

Jim was born on September 28, 1956, in Charlevoix, the son of John and Diane (Brown) Chisholm.

Jim served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years.  Following his active duty assignment, he went on to the reserves for many years.

He loved the outdoors and respected  mother nature.  He enjoyed bees, quilting, knitting, reading and chess.

He is survived by a daughter Rebecca Chisholm, a son Shaan Chisholm and his life partner Brenda Foster of Oregon, 6 grandchildren, Rianna, Stephen, Connor, Jamyane, Cassius, Ariana, 3 sisters, Carol Gilbert of Rapid City, Gail Chisholm of Kingsley, Christine Chisholm of Davison, a brother John Chisholm,  as well as many, many nieces and nephews as and a special friend John Brew.

He was preceded in death by his mothers, Diane Brown-Chisholm, Sandra Lee Chisholm and his father John W. Chisholm.

Funeral services with military honors will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 2:00 p,m, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.

He will be buried at a later date in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township, alongside his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Country Community Mental Health, CO Charlevoix County, 6250 M-66 N., Charlevoix, MI,  49720.

Jim’s family would like to give a special thanks to the Traverse City Police Department, Grand Traverse Veterans Affairs, and Mortensen Funeral Homes for all their assistance and guidance through this difficult time.
