James Bacon

James Bacon, 80 of Petoskey and formerly of Central Lake, died Tues., Feb. 25, 2014 at Bortz Health Care. Jim spent many years in Central Lake working for Bill's Auto & Towing. He was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and enjoyed umpiring games at Craven Park for over 25 years. Jim was also an MSU Spartan fan. He liked to play black jack and do crossword puzzles in his later years and loved to eat spaghetti. Jim was a family man known as "Papa" to his grandchildren. He was a giving man and loved to spend time with them. Jim proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his children Barbara (Mark) Cranick of Nebraska, Sarah (Tim) Hall of Iron River, Rose Campbell of Muskegon, Lois Cook of Alanson, Ada (Brian) Tuck of Charlevoix, James Pullen of Appleton, WI, Charity Dillon, Emily Dillon, Matthew Bacon all of Petoskey, 26 grandchildren, brother Robert Bacon of Bellaire and sister Marion Kivisto of Negaunee. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Rose Ann (Carver) Bacon, siblings Tom, Duke, Dominic, and Ida. No services are planned at this time.
