Jacqueline M. Brooks, 81, of East Jordan died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Eastport Village Care Home.
She was born in Ellsworth Township, Lake County, Michigan on August 6, 1935 to Myron and Berta (Vincent) Simpson.
On July 23, 1955, she married William Brooks in East Jordan. They lived in Banks Township, moving to East Jordan in 1960.
Jackie enjoyed homemaking and was also a hairdresser at the Powder Puff Salon in Petoskey. She enjoyed watching birds, knitting, bowling, singing in the church choir and serving with the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband Bill; children Fred (Cindy) Brooks of Charlevoix, Sally (Tom) Grutsch of East Jordan, and Ginny (Brad) Petrie of East Jordan; grandchildren Seth Grutsch, Shawn Grutsch, Becky Grutsch, Alex Grutsch, Marilee Brooks-Gillies, Allen Brooks, Rachel Harden, Laura Harden; five great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Frey of Westland and nephew Tim (Debbie) Frey of Westland. She was preceded by a sister Joan Simpson, brother Robert Simpson, and twin grandsons George Brooks and Gregory Brooks.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth. A private family service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Burial will be in Antrim City Cemetery.
