Jack Henson, 91, of Mancelona (formerly of Waterford) slipped away peacefully Wednesday, June 15, 2011. He was born to Van and Bertha (Ison) Henson on February 9, 1920 in Greenup KY as Andrew Jackson Henson, but he was always called "Jack". He is survived by his wife, Ethelene (Frederick) Henson; two brothers, Robert (Rose) Henson of Gaylord, and Bert Henson of Otway OH; four children, Gary (Dawn) Henson of Oxford MI., Sherry Kuchon (Mark Felock) of Waterford MI., Darrell Henson of Waterford, MI., and Judy (Peter) Tatum of Dearborn Heights, MI; fourteen grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Hannah Thatcher, Mary Antis, Sally Henson, Viola Allen, and Vanzi Cuellar, brother Louis Henson, and great grandson Zachary Henson. Jack joined the 3 C's at fifteen years old, served in the Army's 825th Tank Destroyer Unit during World War II, and retired as a tool and die maker from Fisher Body after 30 years. He built a retirement home on the family Centennial Farm where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, gardening, and Tigers baseball. He loved country music and playing the guitar. He was proud of his Kentucky heritage and enjoyed studying his ancestry. He spent lots of time with his grandbabies and was surrounded by friends and family to the end. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 18th at 11 a.m. at the Pathway Community Church, with Pastor Dean Landry and a dear friend Louie Scholl officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
