Jack A. Franklin, 88, of Bellaire, passed away on February 20, 2016 at his home. Jack was born on September 10, 1927, in Pontiac Township, MI, the son of William and Pearl (Jones) Franklin. Jack served his country honorably in the United States Army During the Korean War and was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 1008 in Waterford, MI. On April 17, 1995, in Bellaire, he married Joan Dunn who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Katherine Franklin-DaFoe of Waterford, MI, a son Kris (Ladessia)Franklin of Waterford, MI, a step-son Konrad Knauf of Bellaire, 4 grandchildren, Megan Leja, Austin Terryah, Gabrille and Olivia Franklin, 5 step-grandchildren, Lisa, Kaleb, Arlo, Elke and Inigo Knauf as well as 1 step-great-grandchild Noah Slayback also, the mother of his children, Bernadine Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearl (Jones) Franklin, a son Kevin Franklin, daughter Kelli Terryah, 4 siblings, Greta, Alyce, William and Robert. Funeral services, followed by military honors, will take place on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will take place Monday, May 9 at 1 p.m. in Eldred Cemetery, Kearney Township.
