Jack Francis COSTOLO (1932-2023)
Jack Francis Costolo, 90, Norwood, MI died Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Munson Hospital in Charlevoix, MI, where he had been a patient for three days. Jack was born at home in Ferndale, MI, a son of the late Raymond F. and Rose LeFevre Costolo. On November 24, 1962, he married Josette F. Corteggiano of Birmingham, MI. The couple moved to Troy, MI where they resided until moving to Norwood in 2001. An early pioneer in Information Technology, he was employed at General Motors from 1963 until his retirement in 1996.
Jack was a Marine sergeant in the Korean War and a Wayne State University graduate. He was Norwood Historical Society Chairman from 2006-2007. He was a grouse hunter and angler with a strong, broad knowledge of natural sciences. He was your man if you had a question about anything from geology to history to why Easter fell on different dates.
Jack’s intelligent, honest, kind manner was obvious to the many that loved him. He was the ideal son, husband, father, and friend.
Surviving besides his widow are a daughter and two sons, Jacqueline Costolo Barnett, Richard Costolo, and David Costolo. Also surviving are four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6th at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
