Jack Alan Carpenter 76 of Central Lake, died December 18, 2017 at home.
He was born March 2, 1941 in Kokomo, IN the son of Francis and Grace (Cardwell) Carpenter.
Jack was a dedicated, hardworking man. He worked many years in the automotive industries for Chrysler in Kokomo, IN, Star Cutter, Bellaire Tool, and currently for Alro all in Bellaire. In his free time he enjoyed being in the great outdoors of northern Michigan. He also enjoyed making maple syrup, moonshine, and beef jerky. Jack was an avid follower of his granddaughter Alexis’ softball games and proud to tell every one of her accomplishments. He was a past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Blue Lodge #341 in Greentown, IN.
On June 24, 1962 in Kokomo, he married Roxie Rakestraw who survives. Also surviving are his children Penni (Bryan) Newlun of Lindon Lake, Richard and Christopher Carpenter both of Central Lake, grandchildren Alexis Carpenter, Jaynee Poel, and Christopher Newlun, brothers Stanley “Sid” and Steve, sisters Shirley, Helen, and Janet, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Lee, Ralph, Harry, Dennis, and Jerry.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with interment following in Southern Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held following the funeral at the V.F.W Hall in Central Lake. Memorial contributions can be given to the Masonic Blue Lodge #341, in Greentown. Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
