J. Lanny Mauney, 66 of Central Lake, formerly of Southfield, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Lanny was born February 5, 1941 the son James and Violet (Hall) Mauney in Detroit. He served as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years for KimRon Construction of Novi and Central Lake and was known for donating time for his friends building projects. He was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Surviving are his mother Violet Wilber of Rochester, seven children, James Lanny Jr. (Kimberly) of Clarkston, Paul Edward of Hazel Park, Joseph Allen (Jessica) of South Lyon, Ruth Ann (Jeff) Duckett of Warren, Robert A. (Renee) Brisch of Redford, Robin A. (Art) Fisher of Livonia, Becky L. (John) Martindale of Livonia, a brother Charles W. Wilber of Rochester, two sisters Sharon (Arthur) Wright of Cass City, Janice (Harold) Meaux of Marseilles, IL a special companion Sharon Miles of Central Lake, 16 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his significant other Beverly Brisch and his father. Funeral services were held Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, Pastor Thomas Hunter officiated. Interment was in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Twp.
