Ivan John Foerster, 93 of Kewadin, MI, and Placida, FL, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Medilodge of Traverse City. He was born June 20, 1928 in Bay City, MI the son of Edwin and Clara (Meyer) Foerster.
Ivan was a hardworking man. He was self-employed and he built many homes, businesses, and buildings throughout the years putting in endless hours until the work was done. In his down time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, and golfing. Growing up a farm boy, Ivan enjoyed having a bountiful garden wherever he lived. Ivan proudly served in the US Navy and was a member of the Home Builders Association and the VFW.
On August 25, 1951 in Bayonne, NJ he married Irene Kiselewicz who survives. Also surviving are his children Michael (Nancy) Foerster, James Foerster, Debra (Dave) Strawbridge, Linda (James) Plomer, Charles (Mary) Foerster, sister Bernice Mehl, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Nelson Foerster, Kenneth Foerster, sisters Luella Savage, Harriet Leinberger, Arlene Bennett, and Baby girl Foerster.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Charles E. Foerster offficiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Eastport. A celebration of Ivan's life will take place back at their torch residence afterwards. Memorial contributions can be given to Torch Lake Protection Alliance, PO BOX 706, Bellaire, MI 49615.
