Mrs. Iva Marie (Sill) Azelton, age 88, of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday morning, December 30, 2020 in the home of her granddaughter – surrounded by love.
She was born November 15, 1932 in Chesaning, MI, the daughter of late Arthur and Ida (Dummond) Haak.
Iva was a sagacious businesswoman. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, living on the bay and drinking her Manhattan’s. She was a woman that loved to entertain and opened up her home to many. She had a way of making everyone feel right at home and lit up the room with her contagious laugh.
Iva is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws, Lynn (AJ) Vanderlaan, Susan Sill, and Diane (Robby) Sill Smith. She was a loving grandmother to Carley, Trevor, Grace, Gerry, Patrick, Michael, and Kelly, and great-grandmother to Ashlynn, LucyAna, Luna, Mea, and Avi. Her love for her grandbabies was immense.
Iva was preceded in death by her two brothers, Gerald and Richard, and her first husband of 44 years, Ralph Sill. Iva reconnected later in life with Jerry Azelton. They were married for 10 years until he passed away in May of 2020.
Iva was a strong, determined, and incredibly generous woman. She will be tremendously missed by many.
A small family memorial will be held this summer.
