Isabel Peterson

Isabel A. Peterson, 93, of Ellsworth died Friday, July 15, 2016 in Charlevoix.

She was born December 1, 1922 in Ellsworth to Charles and Hazel (Jolliffe) Edson.

On October 19, 1952 she married Okey Peterson in Lansing. They lived in Lansing until 1966, then in Ionia until 1972 when they moved to Ellsworth. Okey died in 2001.

Issy worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation and for the Department of Social Services. She was a charter member of the Ellsworth Lioness Club. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling and going to the casino.

Surviving are her children Joni Wieland with significant-other William 'Griz' Patenge, and Charles Peterson, both of Ellsworth; special friend of the family Ruth Cunningham and children Jack and Megan of California; grandchildren Josh Wieland of Hancock and Jamie (Ryan) Fischer of Bellaire; step-granddaughter Heidi Peterson; great-grandchildren Keely Fischer, Payton Fischer and Brooklyn Isabel Fischer; her sister Joan Blake of Garden City; sisters-in-law Carrie Edson of Boyne City, Catherine Hults of Palm Harbor, Florida, and brother-in-law John Wynsma of Byron Center; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Okey she was preceded in death by a step-son Gary Peterson, step-grandson Eric Peterson, and siblings Geneva Blanchard, Ethan Edson, Harold Edson, Don Edson, Ida Mae Wynsma, and Doyle 'Mike' Edson.

A memorial gathering will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Peterson's Pleasant Point aka Wieland's Whistling Pines.
