Inez Harris

Inez M. Harris, 95, of Alden, passed away on October 16, 2016 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Inez was born on June 3, 1921 in Shelby, MI, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Foley) Converse. As a young lady she moved with her family to the Rapid City area, then onto Clam Lake. She grew up with an identical twin sister, Iris and while in High School they were known to switch classes and occasionally boyfriends. While attending Alden High School, she met her future husband, Robert Harris. She and Bob were married on June 2, 1940, in a double wedding ceremony with her twin Iris and her husband. Inez and Bob bought a farm outside Alden where they worked together for many years. They had a large vegetable garden and grew many beautiful flowers. She loved to knit, crochet and sew and created many wonderful gifts for family and friends. She is survived by niece Bonnie Wood of Perry, MI, two nephews, Randy Bundy of Mancelona, Dennis (Suzanne) Bundy of Vassar, MI, a sister-in-law Naida Dewey of Alden as well as many other extended family members around Antrim County and beyond. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2006, twin sister Iris McArthur, sister Betty Grundel, two brothers, Jay Converse, Berl Arsnoe as well as her parents. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Twelve noon at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Daniel Biteman will officiate. Interment will follow in Helena Township Cemetery, Alden. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
