Imogene E. Gilkerson,  91, of Bellaire, passed away on February 8, 2018 at her winter home in Weslaco, TX.

Imogene was born  on January 29, 1927, in Echo Township, the daughter of John “Rex” and Mary (Willson) Petrie.

Imogene enjoyed baking, playing cards, snowmobiling, many years of RV ing, and enjoyed time with family, and visits from many friends.

She was a member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church and was employed by the state of Michigan for many years before retiring out of the Antrim County office in Bellaire.

On February 2, 1946, in Pleasant Valley, she married Claude “Doug” Gilkerson who survives.  Also surviving are two children, Judy (Bob) Gregg of Central Lake, Claude (Joyce) Gilkerson of Central Lake, four grandchildren, Karen (Al) Miglio of Bellaire, Kelly (Scott) Zimmerman of Cary, NC, Robert (Julie) Gregg of Allendale, MI, Jeffrey (Megan) Gilkerson of Chicago, IL, and two great-grandchildren, Claudia and Olivia Zimmerman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bryce Petrie and a sister Karen Kucharek.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 17 at 12 noon at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric Falker officiating.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Interment will take place when weather permits in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA,  22215.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
