Ilah McCulloch

Ilah M. McCulloch, of Kalkaska, was 95 years wise when our Lord called her home. She passed peacefully on February 7, 2015 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. Ilah was born on September 16, 1919, in Flint, MI, the daughter of Eber and Bertha (Schreiter) Burley. Ilah was from the Flint area, where she and her loving husband Mac raised their two sons Dean and Jay. Family was always important to Ilah and her sons are her legacy. She and Mac retired to Manistee Lake and Ilah has remained a Kalkaska resident for 41 years. She was an exceptional quilter, doing it all by hand. She enjoyed all needlework including crewel, knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery. Being a farm girl at heart, Ilah also loved flowers and gardening. She was a longtime member of C.E.T.A. and a constituent of the Mancelona United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Dean (Cindy) McCulloch of Kalkaska, Jay (Jan) McCulloch of Kalkaska, a grandson Keith (Carole) Rideout as well as a great-grandson Malcolm Rideout. She was preceded in death by her husband Alden McCulloch, her parents Eber and Bertha, 8 siblings, Harry Burley, Grace Young, Charles Burley, Alvira Leonard, Floyd Burley, Wayne Burley, Ruth Burley and Elaine Brown. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Pastor Todd Shafer and Cindy McCulloch will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring at Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church or to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
