Howard Grody

Howard "Hob" Grody, 78, of Mancelona, passed away September 25, 2012 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Howard was born May 31, 1934 in Mancelona, the son of Ervin and Mae Grody. Howard was a member at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church for many years. He and his wife Shirley raised 7 kids in Mancelona. He was employed by Mancelona Public School System as a Bus Driver for 26 years. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, going camping and was a friend to many. On December 27, 1952, in Mancelona, Howard married the love of his life Shirley, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Barb (Raymond) Harkabusic of Bellaire, Mike (Lori) Grody of Mancelona, Ervin Grody of Gaylord, Marilyn (David) Miller, Eric "Rick" (Pam) Grody, Chip (Jackie) Grody, and Karen Grody all of Mancelona; siblings, Ilene Hubbard, Dorothy (Harry) Richards and Gordon "Jake" Grody; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. A Celebration Service of Howards Life will be Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will follow the service also at the church.
