Herman Schepperly

Herman Howe Schepperly, a resident of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Mancelona, Michigan passed away on March 2, 2011 in Charlevoix, Michigan at the age of 86. Herman was born on January 22, 1925 to Beatrice and Paul Schepperly who preceded him in death. Herman had three siblings that preceded him in death, Richard, Betty Schepperly, and Marge (Deater) Schepperly and is survived by two other siblings Roger and Patricia (Watkins) Schepperly. Herman attended Mancelona High School. Upon leaving school he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific during WWII. When he returned from WWII, Herman married Gladys (Larsen) Schepperly on August 25, 1945. Gladys preceded Herman in death on August 13, 2004. Herman retired from Dura Automotive Systems in 1987 where he was a supervisor of the tool and die shop. Upon retirement, Herman and Gladys relocated to Lakeland, Florida to enjoy the warmth of the south during their final years. They are survived by two boys Michael N. (Susan) Schepperly of Charlevoix, MI., and Chris J. (Linda) Schepperly of Punta Gorda, FL. Between the two families there are several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Donald Ritter officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
