Herbert Dishong

Herbert E. Dishong, 87, of Charlevoix, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at his home. He was born February 15, 1929, in Morley, to Myron and Cleo (March) Dishong. Herb grew up in Lakeview and graduated from Lakeview High School. On August 15, 1954, he married Gloria Ann Abbey in Lakeview where they lived until moving to Charlevoix in 1975.

Herb worked as the building manager for LaCroft Condominium in Charlevoix for twenty-three years. He enjoyed working with wood, walking the beaches collecting Petoskey Stones, and spending time with his family.

He was a past president and secretary for the Charlevoix Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene.

Herb is survived by his wife, Gloria A., children, Terry Dishong of Evart, Curt (Lynne) Dishong of Lakeview, Brenda Dishong, Sally (Paul) Stripay, and Aaron (Jill) Dishong all of Charlevoix; grandchildren, Terri Lynn, Sarah, Amber, Jared, Josh, Erin, and Allison; great-grandchildren, Jake, Michael, Kobe, Kyra, Kaden, Kendric, Alivia, Evan, Mason, Abbey Mae, and Roland; sister, Joyce VanVlerah of Lake.

A memorial service will be 3:00pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene. The Reverend Dan Gilmore will officiate. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery at a later time.
