Helen Meggison

Helen Elizabeth Meggison, age 91 of Charlevoix passed away on September 12, 2017 at Georgia House.

Helen was born on October 3, 1925 in Petoskey to the late Herman and Alice (Ballou) Kaske. On October 12, 1946 at the United Methodist Church she married Donald Meggison who preceded her in death.

She worked at the Edwards IGA Store for many years and worked on the City of Charlevoix Election Board. Helen was a great cook and loved her cat, reading, watching soaps, going on the pontoon boat and fishing with Meg. She was a member of the Charlevoix United Methodist Church.

Helen is survived by her children, Jerry (Babs) Meggison, Thomas (Julie) Meggison, Barbara (Kevin) Swanson, Bruce (Susan) Meggison all of Charlevoix, grandchildren, Daniel (Rebecca) Meggison, Melanie (Kevin) Cordova, Krista Meggison (Bill LaWay), Mandi (Tim) Vondra, Kassandra Meggison, Justin Meggison (Lindsey Pieczynski), Kraig (Karry) Swanson, Donovan (Rachel) Swanson, Grant Meggison, Lee Elizabeth Meggison (Travis Nachazel) and many great grandchildren.

Helen loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and parents.

A celebration of life gathering will take place on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Michigan, 220 W. Garfield Charlevoix, MI 49720 or the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, 614 Beardsley Street, Boyne City, MI 49712.

Helen’s family would like to thank Russ and the entire staff at the Georgia House, home caregiver Debbie Berry for taking great care of her. They would also like to thank Tim and Kathy Bradley for being wonderful neighbors.
