Helen Mae Wente Hurley, 89, of Bellaire, passed away on April 7, 2015 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Helen was born on January 9, 1926, in Steeleville, IL, the daughter of William C. and Ruth Elsey Wente. Helen entered the Jewish Hospital College of Nursing at St. Louis, Missouri in 1944. As a graduate R.N. she began nursing at the Wyandotte General Hospital in Wyandotte, MI in 1948. On April 16, 1949, Helen married Wilmer Lee Hurley. After retiring in 1983, Wilmer and Helen moved to Bellaire, MI and were members of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Wente Brockmeyer of Steeleville, IL,. One son Kenneth Lee Hurley of Naples, Fla, a daughter Kathleen Belle Hurley Trumble and son-in-law Paul Arthur Trumble of Bellaire, MI, along with four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald Wente and Merle Wente; sister Elsie Wente Salger and husband of 60 years Wilmer Lee Hurley. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Rev. Eric Falker will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
