Helen I. Hughey, 87, of Bellaire, passed away on April 7, 2014 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Helen was born on October 14, 1926, in Gladwin, MI, the daughter of Benjamin and Eunice (Heller) Ottgen. Helen was an Antrim County resident most of her life. She was a past member of the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona as well as the Rapid City Church of Christ. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, spending time with her family, square dancing and snowmobiling. On September 14, 1946, in Kalkaska, she married Gordon Hughey who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a daughter Kathy Hunt and a granddaughter Sarah Lundquist. She is survived by 2 children, Robert (Judy) Hughey of Bellaire, Bonnie (Terry) Stites of Kewadin, son-in-law Tom Hunt of Bellaire, 8 grandchildren, Anne (Mike) Anger, Amy (Ken) Kaiser, Shelly (Jon) Enos, Scott (Melissa) Hughey, Ryan (Shannon) Hunt, Jason (Jordan) Hughey, Paul (Brandie) Lundquist, Gordon (Kelly) Hunt, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Howard (Queen) Ottgen of Mancelona, Dolph (Suzie) Ottgen of Bellaire, Steve Ottgen of Mancelona, 2 sisters, Pat Homan of Mancelona, Alice (Harold) Sanford of Williamsburg and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Yousef “Yogi” Jabara and Zeke Henderson will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rapid City Church of Christ. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
