Heinz Marcus

Heinz U. Marcus, 82, of Lakes of the North, passed away on May 18, 2015 at his home. Heinz was born on January 16, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany, the son of Carl and Liese Lotte (Hagendorff) Marcus. Heinz served in the U.S. National Guard and was a Lakes of the North resident for the past 8 years. He was an accomplished chef as well as an ice sculpture. He also enjoyed building model boats. On October 9, 1954, in Detroit, he married Katharina Ganger who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Cindy (Karl) Schoenberger of Lakespur, CO, a son Edward (Renee) Marcus of Las Vegas, NV, a brother Manfred (Margaret) Marcus of Lakes of the North, a sister Unita Marcus of Shelby Township, MI, 3 granddaughters, Nicole (Josh) Gray of Littleton, CO, Renee (Matthew) Kolfak of Greely, CO, LeeAnn of Littleton, CO as well as 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Matthew Glade and a nephew Jason Marcus. A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take place at Palm Valley View Memorial Park in Las Vegas, NV.
