Heather Marie DuBey age 49, of Boyne City, MI passed away on January 20, 2025 as the result of a traffic accident.
Heather was born on October 17, 1975 to Lawrence and Cynthia DuBey. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1994 and went on to earn a Bachelor degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 2000.
Heather was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and was awarded their top honor of a Gold Award in 1994. Some of her best childhood moments were spent in the girl scouting organization at summer camps and on wider opportunities where she made lifelong friendships.
Heather had many hobbies and enjoyed being creative with photography, wood carving, crocheting, painting, and stained glass. She enjoyed being outdoors bird watching, snowshoeing, skiing, swimming, camping, and boating of all kinds. She was full of energy and loved to travel and meet new people. This served her well in what was likely her most proud accomplishment. Over the course of two years Heather completed 50 half marathon races, one in each of the 50 United States.
Heather is survived by her partner Kurt Martin; her parents Lawrence and Cynthia DuBey; her sisters Amy Zellen (Mathew) and Shannon DuBey (Jennifer); her nieces Maddalynn, Genevieve, and Margurite Zellen; her nephew Gregory Zellen; her uncle David DuBey (Leheia); her aunts Kimberlee Rolin (Marvin), and Linda DuBey; and her cousins David Rolin (Jamie), Amanda Smith (Frank), David R. DuBey, and Larry R. DuBey.
She was preceded in death by both her paternal grandparents, Reo and Virginia DuBey and her Maternal grandparents Lowell and Shirlee Zentz.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Lake City United Methodist Church, 301 John St, Lake City, MI, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Luncheon to follow.
