Hazel Dickson

Hazel M. Dickson, 100, of Alden died peacefully, Thurs. Nov. 22, 2012 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, Long Term Care. She was born June 1, 1912, in Comfort, the daughter of Charles and Louisa (Breece) Smith. Hazel was an active lifelong member of the Alden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her time helping and volunteering there. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Surviving Hazel are her children Clarence Smith of Traverse City, Wava Donkers of Traverse City, Harry Dickson of Alden, sister Viola Merkle of Alden, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, 2 daughters Esther Packer and Helen Lewis, siblings Clyde, Lawrence, Clinton, LV, Lester, and Charles Smith, Donnabelle Montney, Lucille Dewitt, son inlaw Jack Donkers, and daughter inlaw Fay Smith. Funeral services will be held Wed. Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Alden United Methodist Church with Dr. Steve Packer officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tues. Nov. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
